What is New Construction HVAC?

New construction HVAC involves the full design and installation of a heating and cooling system in a home or building that does not yet have an HVAC system. That includes rough-in ductwork during framing, equipment installation during trim-out, refrigerant charging, electrical connections, and final commissioning — all coordinated with your construction timeline.

Air Zone Plus works directly with Houston builders, custom home contractors, and developers. We perform Manual J load calculations on every project to ensure the system is properly sized for the finished structure. We pull all required mechanical permits and coordinate inspections with city officials so your build stays on schedule.

Every new construction installation we complete uses R8 flexible duct or sheet metal ductwork, properly sealed supply and return connections, and code-compliant electrical. We document everything for the homeowner warranty file and register all equipment before final walkthrough.

Warning Signs to Watch For

No Load Calculation

If your current HVAC sub is sizing by square footage alone, the system will be wrong. Insulation, orientation, windows, and ceiling height all affect sizing.

Missed Rough-In Deadlines

Duct rough-in must happen before drywall. A late HVAC sub delays every other trade. Timeline reliability is non-negotiable on a build.

No Permit Documentation

All HVAC installations in Houston-area jurisdictions require permits. Missing permits can delay certificate of occupancy and create problems at resale.

Substandard Duct Installation

Improperly supported, uninsulated, or undersized ductwork causes comfort problems for the life of the home. Fixing it after drywall is expensive.

How We Handle It

1. Load Calculation and Design

We run a Manual J on the plans, design the duct layout, and size equipment before rough-in begins.

2. Rough-In

We install all ductwork, plenums, supply boots, and return air framing during the framing stage — on your schedule.

3. Trim-Out and Equipment Install

After drywall, we install the equipment, run refrigerant lines, complete electrical, and set the thermostat.

4. Commission and Certify

We charge the system, balance airflow, verify temperatures, and provide all documentation for the homeowner file and permit closeout.
